Reiki & Healing Touch for
our Animals & Ourselves
Reiki (pronounced ray-key), is a Japanese word for Divine Light (Rei) and Universal Life Force (ki). Reiki is an ancient healing technique, originally documented in Sanskrit texts known to be over 2500 years old. It is a simple system of natural healing that channels energy through the practitioner's hands and into the client's body. There is no need for the client to undress or to believe, as long as they can be receptive to the possible benefits.
Health maintenance, pain relief, mental quietude, relaxation and healing can result from its application. Reiki augments and accelerates the client's own healing process. It can be effective in cases that do not respond to other forms of treatment, and can be used in conjunction with any other therapeutic modality. The energy is always safe, cannot be overdosed, and can only help the client. It can be used when other treatments cannot, because touching the client's body is not necessary for the treatment to be beneficial. The Reiki energy will go where it is needed.
Reiki is becoming more widely recognized and used in conjunction with traditional medicine and in hospital environments. It is especially powerful in hospice work, as it can prepare the client for an easier and more peaceful transition.
Healing Touch techniques safely and effectively address healing issues following injuries and many disease conditions. It can relieve pain (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual), release stress and anxiety, and accelerate healing after an injury to gently and quickly promote health, helping the recipients to heal themselves.
Both Reiki and Healing Touch benefit animals as well as ourselves. We all possess the same life force energy, as do plants, trees, sea life, etc... And at times when our life force energy is low, these harmless and gentle energy-giving techniques are a soothing and welcome respite from life's challenges.
