Action Jackson and the Healing Power of Reiki
At about 11pm on a Friday night in May, 2008, Action Jackson was still panting, I assumed from the day's heat and high temperatures. I gave him his herbs. He has a good-sized growth on his left lymph node and had just presented a small one on his right and is in good spirits. The herbs are a South African blend for cancer in dogs. He is moderately active for an 11 year old.
Then I realized that the air had become quite cool and thought that his panting would quiet down. I thought I'd keep an eye on him, did some computer work and went to check on him around 2am.
What I found was a dog in distress, panting heavily, and his front paws were wet from lots of licking. I brought him in off the porch and realized that he had difficulty lying down. It seemed to give him labored breathing. His tongue, gums and the whole inside of his mouth was fire engine red.

I put my hands on him allowing the Reiki energy to flow. Getting better is not always the outcome. The energy will always be for the highest good of the client and some times healing will not occur if the client needs the discomfort or condition to heal in other ways or to learn something from it. It is always challenging for me to get my hopes out of the way so that the highest Reiki energies can do their work - what is best for the client. Not so easy for me when there are emotional attachments involved. And I was thinking that perhaps he was in pain.
I let the energy flow for 40-45 minutes. Unusual for Jackson, because he never stays still for Reiki. This time the session seemed to calm him a bit. When I stopped he wanted to go outside. I let him go, wondering if he would last the night and in acceptance of the fact that he might not. I peeked out at him on the porch 5 minutes later. He was lying down with his head resting on his front legs, peacefully asleep. I was so happy to see him that way.
The following morning - 6 hours later, he was rested and back to normal. I may never know what that episode was about, but I do know that Reiki came to the rescue once again. |
