About Us
Returning to school in 1999 to complete my BA, gave me the respite I needed and the opportunity to establish my companion animal rescue as an organization. I compiled my records and realized that I had taken in and re-homed 150 dogs and cats in the 7 years prior. I established C.A.R.E., Companion Animal Rescue and Education, and was able to compile some of the rescue stories into a small book. As an artist, I turned some of the animals' likenesses into greeting cards, the sale of which has helped support the veterinary care and cost of food for the dogs and cats. In 2001, I graduated from the Evergreen State College with a degree emphasing Art and Education.
For a few years, I taught art to children in after-school programs at both the Shelton Alternative School, Shelton, WA and at the Lincoln School, Olympia, WA. By 2007, I realized that I had added 50 more rescues to my list. I wanted to do more. In 2008, I had considered having C.A.R.E. become a non-profit. |

The paperwork was daunting. Realistically, I couldn't take in any more animals than I already had. They were getting older, as was I, and increasingly needed more care and attention. So I have officially abandoned C.A.R.E., but not the care-ing.
In 2006, I was first attuned to Usui Reiki by Howard Batie at The Evergreen Healing Arts Center in Chehalis, WA. In 2007, Howard taught me Healing Touch in the Home. Since then I have been ministering to the six dogs and twelve cats I currently have at home and have had some remarkable experiences. Some are detailed on this website. I realized I wanted to improve the animals' lives but in a way different than by taking them in and different from spending so much time on paperwork.... so the animal side of my Reiki practice was born. My Souls Garden Healing Arts Center had expanded almost before it had begun.
I now offer Reiki and Healing Touch for our Animals and Ourselves...
